Marshall boys fade late vs. Minnesota River in 7-0 loss
MARSHALL — A four-goal third period skewed the final score of Saturday’s boys hockey game between Marshall and Minnesota River in favor of the Bulldogs. After a competitive first two periods, Minnesota River coasted to a 7-0 road win over the Tigers.
Riley Kamm got the Bulldogs going in the third period with a pair of unassisted power play goals while Ryker Rehm added another even-strength goal to make the score 6-0. The goal was Rehm’s second of the game after he also made the score 2-0 early in the first period.
The Bulldogs first pulled ahead in the first two minutes of the first period, when Maxwell Hollerich finished off an assist from Kamm and Rehm.
Marshall couldn’t capitalize on a Minnesota River interference minor in the first period. It would be the last power play the Tigers got on the day while the Bulldogs earned four more power play opportunities, capitalizing on two of them.
McCoy Guenther saved 20 of the 27 shots he faced in goal for Marshall while Anders LeDell put together a 20-save shutout for the Bulldogs.
Cole Goecke scored for the Bulldogs in the second period while Aiden Domras added one last insurance goal late in the third.

Marshall outshot the Bulldogs 7-4 in the second period and trailed just 17-15 heading into the final frame, but couldn’t convert those shots into goals.
The Marshall Tigers fall to 4-7-0 with the loss (2-4-0 BSC). They’ll look to avoid their third straight defeat when they travel to the West Fargo Sports Arena in North Dakota for a holiday tournament next weekend. The Tigers will take on West Fargo (N.D.) on Friday at 1 p.m. before facing off against River Lakes (4-2-2) on Saturday at 1 p.m.
