Boike records 2,000th point in Blackjacks’ win

Dawson-Boyd 80, SWMC 45

EDGERTON — Brayson Boike scored his 2,000th point on Saturday in Dawson-Boyd’s 80-45 win over Southwest Minnesota Christian on Saturday. He also became the all-time leading scorer in Blackjacks history on Dec. 17 after he tallied 15 points in a 65-47 win over Central Minnesota Christian.

On Saturday, Boike led with 24 points, two blocks and 11 rebounds, and went 4 for 8 from the 3-point line.

Gunner Liebl followed with 20 points to seven rebounds, and Jaxton Hastad finished with 21 points.

Overall, Dawson-Boyd shot 61% from the field and 40% from the perimeter.

The Blackjacks (7-2) will look to keep its stride going when it travels to take on MACCRAY (2-7) tonight at 7:30 p.m.

RCW 86, Wabasso 71

RENVILLE — Although Brayden Guetter finished with 30 points, the Wabasso boys basketball team fell short 86-71 to Renville County West Monday evening. Guetter scored 20 of his points all in the second half.

Calvin Hanna followed Guetter with 10 points on the night.

Wabbaso went into the locker room with a 50-36 deficit, but couldn’t find the answers to a comeback in the second half.

Both Hanna and Guetter hit a trio of 3-pointers.

Wabasso moves to 7-4 on the season and will next travel to face No. 8 Cedar Mountain on Friday at 7:30 p.m. The Cougars are currently undefeated, standing at 8-0 on the season.

MCC 69, HLOF 27

SLAYTON — Four Rebels scored in double digits to lead the Murray County Central boys basketball team past Heron Lake-Okabena-Fulda 69-27 Monday evening.

Both Maxwell Miller and Gavin Gillette finished with 15 points, while Hudson Schryvers and Aidan Swenson tallied 10 points apiece.

Between Miller and Gillette, the duo made seven 3-pointers, four and three respectively.

Overall, the Rebels shot 40% from the field and the perimetier, an 82% at the free throw line going 9 for 11. They limited HOLF to just 26% field goal shooting, 0 for 8 at the arc and 62% from the charity stripe.

Carson Engelkes distributed a team-high six assists, while Miller also led with four steals. Schryvers collected seven rebounds on the night.

MCC (8-2) will remain at home and host Russell-Tyler-Ruthton (6-2) at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Custer 60, TMB 54

MADISON (S.D.) — The Tracy-Milroy-Balaton boys basketball team fell just short 60-54 to Custer S.D. on Saturday.

Both Trevor Smith and Noah Knakmuhs tallied 17 points to lead the Panthers, each of which also made five 3-pointers. Griffin Zick had five steals. Alex Munson had a team-high seven rebounds.

TMB (8-2) will look to get back in the win column today when it travels to take on Renville County West (9-1) at 7:30 p.m.
