Smith’s efficient 30-point outing drives TMB past Ortonville, 90-59

TRACY — Trevor Smith erupted for 30 points on Monday night as the Tracy-Milroy-Balaton boys basketball team downed Ortonville 90-59.
Smith shot 12 of 13 from the field and knocked down each of his four attempts from beyond the arc. He also dished out three assists, grabbed four rebounds and came away with a pair of steals.
Alex Munson dished out a game-high seven assists with two turnovers while Noah Knakmuhs distributed another six with no turnovers. Munson also scored 16 points and grabbed a team-leading eight rebounds.
Griffin Zick scored 14 points on 6 of 11 shooting in the win.
Tracy-Milroy-Balaton is now 14-4 on the season and next travels to Prinsburg for a game against Central Minnesota Christian (13-3) on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
LQPV 64, Minneota 59
MINNEOTA — The Minneota boys basketball team couldn’t generate enough offense to keep pace with Lac qui Parle Valley on Monday night, falling 64-59.
Leo Hennen was Minneota’s leading scorer on the night, finishing with 15 points on 6 of 11 shooting from the field and 3 of 6 shooting from beyond the arc. Lincoln Jerzak and Lucas Rybinski also added 10 and 11 points respectively.
Easton Johnston led Minneota on the glass with 10 rebounds while Hunter Carstensen grabbed another eight, leading Minneota to a 43-35 rebounding advantage. Johnston and Carstensen also grabbed six and four offensive rebounds respectively, leading to a 22-9 edge for the Vikings.
Defensively, Carstensen logged two steals and a block while Rybinski recorded three steals.
Minneota falls to 6-9 with the loss and will look to get back on track when it heads to Clara City to take on MACCRAY (5-13) on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
No. 2 Dawson-Boyd 88, Canby 28
DAWSON –Brayson Boike singlehandedly outscored the entire Canby roster on Monday night to lead the Dawson-Boyd boys basketball team to victory. The senior forward and SMSU commit scored a game-high 29 points on 13 of 18 shooting to lead the Blackjacks to an 88-28 victory.
In addition to Boike, Gunner Liebl scored 20 points for the Blackjacks on 10 of 15 shooting. Liebl’s three assists also tied him with Boike and Jaxton Hastad for second on the team to Drew Hjelmeland’s four.
Boike grabbeda game-high seven rebounds while Carson Stratmoen grabbed another six.
On the defensive end, Hjelmeland blocked two shots and tied Stratmoen for second on the team with five steals. Liebl’s six steals were a game-high while Boike logged four steals and a block.
Jace Rangaard led Canby with 12 points on 5 of 8 shooting while Cayden Anderson added another 9 points on 2 of 6 shooting.
Dawson-Boyd improves to 12-3 with the win and heads out on the road to take on Morris Area-Chokio-Alberta (10-5) tonight at 7:30 p.m.
Canby remains winless at 0-17 and will look to change that when it goes on the road to face Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg (6-10) on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
KMS 92, YME 52
GRANITE FALLS –The Yellow Medicine East boys basketball team had no answer for Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg in Monday’s 92-52 loss.
Eric Jimenez was the Sting’s leading scorer with 13 points on 6 of 12 shooting while Gavin Torvik added 10 points on 4 of 8 shooting.
Wakinyan GreyCloud set team-highs with four assists, six rebounds and five steals in the loss. He also scored 7 points on 3 of 12 shooting.
Yellow Medicine East falls to 2-15 with the loss. The Sting will look to end its 10-game losing streak when it heads to Bird Island to take on Olivia (9-6) tonight at 7:30 p.m.
WWG 92, RRC 74
WESTBROOK — Hudsen Jenniges’ 32 points headlined a group of four Chargers in double figures on Monday night as the Westbrook-Walnut Grove boys basketball team picked up a 92-74 win over Red Rock Central.
Jenniges had a solid first half but really heated up in the second. He scored 20 of his 32 points after the break.
In the first half, Drew Swanson carried the load with 18 points to lead WWG into the locker room with a 47-23 lead. He finished the game with 23 points while Kyle Curry and Jackson Jenniges added another 14 and 11 respectively for WWG.
For the Falcons, Henry Stavnes had another prolific scoring performance with 26 poitns. He hit five 3-pointers in the game, four of which came in the second half.
WWG improves to 12-5 with the win and heads to Edgerton to take on Southwest Minnesota Christian (8-6) tonight at 7:30 p.n.
Red Rock Central falls to 2-15 and aims to end its eight-game skid when it hosts Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda (2-13) tonight at 7:30 p.m.
