Stoltzman named DII National Player of the Week
LIBURN, Ga. — Southwest Minnesota State University guard Bri Stoltzman was named the Womens Basketball Coaches Association/Division II Conference INformation Directors Association Player of the Week on Tuesday. Coming on the same week in which she earned her fifth Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Player of the Week selection, Stoltzman is the first player in SMSU’s history to earn a national weekly award.
Stoltzman scored a career-high 41 points on Friday against Northern State, the second-highest scoring mark in the NCAA this season. She’s also the first Mustang to eclipse 40 points since Michele Bruns did it against St. Cloud State in 2004.
Stoltzman went on to finish the week averaging 31.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, five assists and 3.5 steals in a pair of wins over Northern State and UMary.
Stoltzman has the Mustangs tied with Concordia-St. Paul for second in the NSIC behind Minnesota State. SMSU will return to action on Friday when it goes on the road to face Bemidji State.
