BURNSVILLE — For the second week in a row, the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference named Southwest Minnesota State University outfielder Levi Lampert as its Player of the Week on Monday. His play helped SMSU claim a four-game sweep over Minot State over the weekend.
SMSU went 4-1 on the week, with its lone loss coming to Division I South Dakota State on Wednesday.
Lampert hit four home runs on the week, one in each of SMSU’s four wins over Minot State. He also tallied eight RBIs, four doubles and a .571 batting average in 21 at-bats over the week. He also drew five walks and stole a pair of bases to close the week with a 2.000 OPS.
A week prior, Lampert was named the conference’s Player of the Week after posting a 1.644 OPS with two home runs, a double and eight RBIs in SMSU’s four-game sweep of Bemidji State.
In the loss to South Dakota State on Wednesday, Lampert had a double and two walks to help SMSU to a 10-run day on the offensive side of the plate.
Lampert is batting .444 with eight home runs, nine doubles and 24 RBIs on the season so far.
