Minneota racks up 21 runs in win over RCW

SACRED HEART — Ryan Meagher, Ian Myhre and Adam Dalager each reached base four times for the Minneota baseball team in its walloping of Renville County West. The Vikings got hits from every slot, 1 through 9, in their 21-1 win over Renville County West in five innings.
Minneota scored 10 first-inning runs and another six in the second to take a 16-1 lead. That margin only grew as Minneota shut out RCW for the remainder of the game, added three more runs in the third and added one more in the fourth and fifth.
Myhre and Meagher each drove in three RBIs in the game, tying Carson Javers for second on the team to Adam Dalager’s four. Dalager and Meagher each had two singles, a walk and reached on an error while Myhre had a single, a double and reached twice on an error.
As a pitcher, Meagher allowed one unearned run over two innings on the mound, giving up three hits and two walks. Myhre also threw two shutout innings, allowing two hits, while Mason Javers struck out each of the three batters he faced in the fifth.
Griffin Howard allowed seven earned runs on four hits and two walks while getting just one out in his start for RCW. Austin Rice also gave up six earned runs on four hits over one inning while Connor Peterson allowed two earned and five unearned runs on six hits over 3 2/3 frames.
Minneota improves to 4-1 with the win and next hosts Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
Canby 11, Ortonville 1
ORTONVILLE — Morgen Tol’s strong pitching and hitting performance helped the Canby baseball team secure an 11-1 win over Ortonville Tuesday night on the road, the Lancers’ first victory of the season.
Tol pitched for four innings, allowing no hits or runs, along with four walks and eight strikeouts. He also led the offense with three RBIs, three hits and two runs.
Bryant Hansen was on the mound the first two innings, also allowing no hits, with one run, five walks and two strikeouts.
Neither team committed an error in the night, but Canby led with 14 hits while holding Ortonville to zero.
Along with Tol, Jace Sigler finished with three RBIs, three hits and one run. Will Abrahamson also had a pair of RBIs with his three hits and one run. Cody Stoll and Jaxon Groenhoff each accounted for two runs a piece as well.
The game was competitive the first three innings, with Canby getting on the board in its first at-bat. Eli Greenman ran home from third on a passed ball, after he initially hit a double line drive to left field.
Ortonville returned the favor by bringing in a run in the bottom of the third inning.
Yet, Canby exploded for a four-run fourth inning, followed by five more runs in the sixth.
Stoll got the rally started in the fourth after hitting a double to right field, and scoring home after a Tol double.
Groenhoff next got home after walking, with the help of an Abrahamson single on a hard ground ball to left field.
Canby continued to keep runners on the base to take a 5-1 lead before Ortonville could finish halt the Lancers and end the inning.
Canby continued to take advantage of Ortonville’s pitcher in the top of the sixth, as Sigler hit a double out to right field to bring in Cash Antony, who was initially walked.
The bats stayed hot as the Lancers took the 10-run lead, and held Ortonville scoreless in its final at-bat to end the game.
Canby (1-2) will next return home to host Renville County West on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
Dawson-Boyd 15, CMC 4
PRINSBURG — The Dawson-Boyd baseball time cruised to a 15-4 win over Central Minnesota Christian Tuesday night behind a strong pitching performance from Nathan Hansen.
Hansen threw 11 strikeouts in his five innings pitched, along with allowing three hits, three earned runs and four walks. He also had two hits and one run on the night.
The Blackjacks got the bats going with a five-run second and fifth inning, totaling for 15 runs off 14 hits. CMC had just four hits on the night. Dawson-Boyd also had three errors to CMC’s two.
Tygan Long had a team-high four RBIs and three hits, while Kameron Sather tallied two RBIs and a team-best trio of runs.
Eli Olson also pitched the final inning of the game, throwing for one strikeout with one hit and no runs.
After scoring two runs in the first inning, the Blackjacks started their hot second inning rally with bringing Colten Bothun home after walking and making his way to third base off another walk and Ashton Swendra single to left field. Beau Johnson was hit by a pitch with bases loaded to score Bothun.
Another walk with loaded bases resulted in another run, followed up with a Long single to score Kameron Sather.
Dawson-Boyd continued to fluster CMC’s defense in the top of the fifth, continuing to keep players on base through aggressive hitting and taking advantage of fielding errors to put the game away.
CMC brought its runs in with three in the first inning, and one more in the second before Dawson-Boyd kept the Bluejays silent the remainder of the night.
The Blackjacks (1-1) will next travel to Springfield on Monday with a 4:30 p.m. first pitch.
TMB 8, LQPV 6
MADISON — Some late-game heroics from Jackson Kruse gave the Tracy-Milroy-Balaton baseball team a come-from-behind road win over Lac qui Parle Valley in Camden Conference play on Tuesday. The Panthers scored three seventh-inning runs to surge ahead for an 8-6 victory.
The Panthers trailed 6-5 in the final frame when Connor Lanoue and Griffin Zick walked to put runners on the corners with two outs. With the game on the line, Kruse hit a two-run double to give the Panthers the lead. They added another insurance run from there to claim the win.
David Schuh earned the win for the Panthers on the mound, going 2 1/3 scoreless innings while allowing one hit with three strikeouts. He also had two singles and a pair of RBIs at the plate.
Griffin Zick threw the final two outs to earn the save. Lanoue started the game on the hill for the Panthers and allowed five earned runs on five hits with a pair of strikeouts over four innings.
Trevor Smith contributed a double and an RBI for TMB at the plate.
With the win, TMB improves to .500 for the first time this season at 3-3. The Panthers will look to get deeper into winning territory when they host Russell-Tyler-Ruthton on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

TYLER — The Russell-Tyler-Ruthton boys baseball team’s undefeated start to the season came to an end on Tuesday against Adrian/Ellsworth in Red Rock Conference play. In the teams’ first meeting since the Dragons downed the Knights in the Section 3A elimination bracket semifinals last year, Adrian/Ellsworth scored a run in each of the first four innings of its game against the Knights on Tuesday to defeat RTR 6-3.
Adrian/Ellsworth trailed 2-1 with two outs in the second when Aidan Tweet walked and scored the tying run when Caleb Wolf reached on an error. One inning later, Kyler Kunkel singled, advanced to third with two outs after a pair of walks, and scored the go-ahead run on a Jack Jenniges single.
Travis Weiss drove in Tweet on an error in the fourth, and Jayden Russell hit a two-run double in the seventh to bring Adrian/Ellsworth’s advantage to 6-2.
Brayden Chandler hit a solo home run with one out in the bottom of the seventh to make it a three-run game, but a pop out and a ground out ended any hope of an RTR rally.
Chandler was one of three Knights with an extra-base hit in the game, along with a double from Sean Griesse and Tyler Wichmann. Chandler also walked to become the only Knight in the game to safely reach base twice.
Eli Determan had the loss tacked onto his record after allowing two earned and two unearned runs over 5 1/3 innings. He struck out seven batters while allowing eight hits and three walks.
In relief, Gavin Schreurs allowed two earned runs on three hits and a pair of walks.
Adrian/Ellsworth scored a run on a sacrifice ground out in the top of the first, but Chandler walked before scoring on a Griesse RBI double, and Griesse advanced to third on a Determan single before scoring on a Drew Chandler sacrifice fly for a 2-1 RTR lead.
Matthew Geister allowed three earned runs on five hits and a pair of walks over seven innings in the win for the Dragons.
RTR falls to 5-1 with the loss and aims to bounce back on Thursday when it goes on the road to face off against Tracy-Milroy-Balaton.
