Schuerman earns 5th place finish for Marshall at Hamline Elite Meet
ST. PAUL — The Marshall track and field team sent four individuals and three relay teams to the Hamline Elite Meet on Friday at Hamline University. Leading the way for the Tigers was Aidan Schuerman, who earned a fifth-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles.
Schuerman ran a personal-best time of 39.80 in the event, which was won by Cretin-Derham Hall’s Michael Seifu at 38.11.
Alex Franson also put together a top-10 performance for the Tigers, placing eighth in the 400 meters at 50.32, while Hopkins’ Henry Risser won the event at 47.19.
On the girls side, Autumn Deutz was the Tigers’ lone individual participant. Still, Deutz represented Marshall well with a ninth-place finish in the pole vault at 10-09.
Sam Deutz placed 15th in the 1600 meters at 4:29.07. Deutz also competed in a pair of relays, anchoring the 4×800-meter relay team with Ethan Bly, Josh Leibfried and Mykel Paulsen to a seventh-place finish at 8:06.87, and running the third leg of the 4×400-meter relay with Keagen Anderson, Leibfried and Franson for a 3:26.24 finish to place ninth.
Marshall’s mixed 4×400-meter relay team of Anderson, Katelyn Leibfried, Franson and Peyton Boeck placed ninth at 3:48.27.
Marshall Track and Field will next compete on Tuesday at New Ulm High School at 4 p.m.
