LUVERNE — The Westbrook-Walnut Grove track and field team competed in an eight-team meet at Luverne High School on Tuesday afternoon. Both the boys and girls teams placed sixth, the boys doing so with 44 points and the girls with 46.

Redwood Valley won the boys side with 159 points, followed by Hills-Beaver Creek with 144 and Luverne with 119. On the girls side, Luverne won with 234 points, followed by Redwood Valley with 132 and Southwest Minnesota Christian/Edgerton with 85.

Bowen Hesse and Adrian Yang each had first-place finishes on the boys side, with Hesse running a 16.69 in the 110-meter hurdles and Yang reaching 9-06 in the pole vault.

On the girls side, Miranda Mischke led the team with a runner-up finish in the high jump at 4-08 and a pair of fourth-place finishes in the 800- and 1600-meter races, running a 2:50.06 and a 6:10.24. Evelyn Rentschler also placed third in the 100-meter hurdles at 18.94. 

The Westbrook-Walnut Grove/Red Rock Central track team will return to action on Thursday at a meet hosted by Lakeview at 3:30 p.m.
