Putting the pieces together in Cottonwood
People were really puzzling things out at the Cottonwood Community Center over the weekend. A total of seven teams raced to complete a 1,000-piece jigsaw puzzle, at the second annual Four-Person Puzzle Challenge n Saturday. By the end of the afternoon, the team of Cole Arends, Bryce Arends, Dawn Arends and Madison Voelker emerged as first-place winners in the challenge.
Teams had a three-hour time limit to complete their puzzle. The top four teams would go on to compete against each other in a second round. The next level challenge was to complete a 300-piece puzzle in an hour.
The puzzle challenge was organized by the Cottonwood Area Community Foundation.
“We’re doing some different events, trying to bring events to town,” said Tam French. In the past, the Community Foundation had held bingo and other events to help support efforts to build a splash pad in Cottonwood. Now that the splash pad is moving forward, the foundation wanted to look at ways to keep giving back to the community, French said.
The puzzle competition was also a fun indoor event for the winter. “We’re always looking for ideas,” French said. The foundation’s next event is a bingo night at the Community Center on Feb. 15.
